Description
Vetiver terpenes are the light, volatile fractions extracted from vetiver essential oil (Vetiveria zizanoides), concentrating the most diffusive components — khusimol, vetivrene, zizanene — while being free of less volatile heavy fractions. Their olfactory profile is fresh, woody-earthy with a lightness superior to total vetiver, slightly lemony-resinous nuances, and a less smoky, more airy and diffusive character, allowing vetiver to be used in top and middle notes. In perfumery, these terpenes are used to bring the authenticity of natural vetiver into light-woody accords, fresh-woody eaux de toilette, and formulas where the heaviness of total vetiver would be prohibitive.
