TRANS-2-NONENAL
Description
Trans-2-nonenal is an unsaturated aliphatic green aldehyde (C9) naturally present in fresh cucumber, tea rose, and certain grape varieties (Sauvignon Blanc). It is recognized as one of the main contributors to the characteristic cucurbit aroma. Its olfactory profile is green-fatty and slightly aquatic, with notes of fresh cucumber, watermelon, and a subtle fatty-waxy nuance. It offers great finesse and considerable olfactory power at minute concentrations. In perfumery, it is used in micro-doses in green-aquatic accords, rose and cucumber reconstructions, and fresh marine accords, where it provides an absolutely authentic vegetal naturalness.
