Description
Methyl octalactone is a woody lactone of great importance in modern perfumery, known for its whisky-lactone note and its distinctive creamy-woody facets. Its olfactory profile is woody, slightly creamy, and with a characteristic whisky-oak chip note. Naturally present in brandies, whiskies, and oak barrels, it is one of the components responsible for the "oak" note in aged spirits. Used in woody-alcoholic creations, whisky-wood accords, and tobacco-woody compositions, it brings a very authentic woody depth. It combines with resins, cedars, and woody musks for very masculine accords.
