Description
Santal album essential oil is obtained by distillation of the roots and heartwood of Santalum album (white sandalwood from Mysore, India). Its olfactory profile is woody, creamy, and slightly animalic, with the iconic note of great Indian sandalwood—sweet, creamy, persistent, and of incomparable natural depth. Considered the most precious natural raw material in perfumery, along with rose absolute and jasmine, it is used in very high-end couture creations. Its production is now strictly regulated due to historical overexploitation. Perfumers consider it the "Rolls-Royce" of natural perfumed woods.
