Description

Delta-3-carene is a bicyclic monoterpene found in many coniferous essential oils, notably turpentine and cypress. Its olfactory profile is fresh, slightly woody and terpenic, with an aromatic note reminiscent of fresh pine resins and coniferous forests. Used as a terpenic component in woody-aromatic accords, it brings freshness and naturalness to forest compositions. It is also an important precursor in the synthesis of many natural aromatic products. Handled with caution due to its irritant potential in pure concentration, it is generally used diluted in perfumed formulations.
